The Black Pearl Sails was first established as a Yahoo Group by Admiral [personal profile] erinrua on August 30, 2003, an outpost was staked out at Live Journal on December 17, 2005, and now here we are at Dreamwidth.

Here is a slightly modified version of the welcome message that goes out to all new members of the Yahoo Group, and is certainly appropriate for this first post on Dreamwidth...

Ahoy, Mate! )

There is also a short questionnaire that goes out to new members, so that they can introduce themselves to the rest of the group and be welcomed as one of the crew.

Arrr! )

I'll start the fun off in my next post. ;)

Here's that questionnaire I was talking about in the last post...

What name would you like to go by? Geek Mama (though I'm [personal profile] dwgm over here at Dreamwidth).

How many times have you seen "Pirates of the Caribbean?" Do numbers go that high?

Who is your favorite character? Jack Sparrow

Who is your second favorite character? Elizabeth Swann

What do you like most about watching/reading/writing "Pirate" stories? I'm a history buff, and I love adventure, comedy, and romance. Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl was right up my alley.

How long have you been reading/writing fanfiction? For about 45 years. (Why yes, I am older than dirt.)

If you are a writer, what sorts of things have you written so far? Mostly Jack-centric romances, though I enjoy writing most of the characters.

If you have stories online, where are they archived? The most complete archive of my work is on Live Journal -- here's my "Table of Contents".

What was your first fandom, or is this your first fandom? I have always been fannish. I think the first fanfiction I wrote was Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Or maybe some Beatles RPF. *g*

What other fandoms are you active in? No others, really, although I adore anything Age of Sail, including the Aubrey-Maturin series, Jane Austen, Georgette Heyer, etc.

Optional: Give a short biography of yourself, (Age, location, hobbies, work, etc.) Older than dirt, as I said, location is Southern California (about 70 miles from Disneyland), hobbies are writing, cooking, traveling, reading, photography, graphic design, and I'm an office manager at a high school.

What name would you like to go by? I'm Triskellion pretty much everywhere. I also respond to Ree

How many times have you seen "Pirates of the Caribbean?" Umm... good question. Lots?

Who is your favorite character? Jack - I mean, Captain Jack Sparrow

Who is your second favorite character? Joshamee Gibbs, though I'm also fond of Will and Elizabeth

What do you like most about watching/reading/writing "Pirate" stories? I like the blend of reality and the supernatural. A lot of the best PotC stories are painfully realistic as to what it meant to live in that era, and it amazes me the attention to detail the authors attain.

How long have you been reading/writing fanfiction? Umm, ten years or so I guess, though I remember fanfic type daydreams when I was little.

If you are a writer, what sorts of things have you written so far? I mostly write drabbles for PotC. I've also written a few longer things for other fandoms.

If you have stories online, where are they archived? The complete collection is on LJ, and has been copied to dreamwidth. Tags on my account are extensive.

What was your first fandom, or is this your first fandom? I think my first was either Valdemar or Zorro, but PotC was the first I really started writing for.

What other fandoms are you active in? NCIS is my biggest these days, but I've also written Harry Potter, Stargate SG1, Van Helsing, Torchwood, Firefly, Labyrinth, and Tin Man as well as a few original stories.

Optional: Give a short biography of yourself, (Age, location, hobbies, work, etc.) I'm officially and engineer, though I'm looking for another job right now. I live in SoCal with a husband who's fairly supportive of my writing obsession. I read, write, watch TV, and hike.
