WAKE

The definition of a drabble is a 100 word story. Well, mostly they are. In this community, we like to think of the 100 words limit not as a rule but as a guideline (since we all know what pirates think about rules as opposed to guidelines...) Going a few words over or a few words under the word count isn't a marooning offence. In fact, we've been known to encourage going over or under by as many words as it takes to satisfy your muse as well as be in awe of those people who can hit the 100 word mark exactly.

The drabble challenge runs Wednesday to Wednesday, but see the above rules if you get inspired by one of the previous topics, listed at our very own captain's Black Pearl Tales.

Disclaimer: These characters and situations are owned by Disney. I get no money from this, only joy.
Summary: The Black Pearl is raiding cruelly all over the Spanish Main. Has Jack really turned vicious? Will feels these deaths are his fault, because he's the one who freed Jack.
Notes: This is set just after The Curse of the Black Pearl. It was intended to fit into canon, but I presumed Will and Elizabeth would marry promptly after the first movie and the second movie proved me wrong. So, this is accidentally AU.

Feedback is certainly welcome. I'm revising as I post it, so it can always be improved.

I can't even remember who beta'd this for me. I'll come back and edit when I figure that out.

And, for you dogs out there playing the drinking game, take a swig of rum for every quote you find from The Pirates of Penzance.

What name would you like to go by? Dragonfly.

How many times have you seen "Pirates of the Caribbean?" Really hard to say. I saw the first movie in the theater seven times before acquiring a *cough* shall we say, advance copy which I watched once a night for at least two weeks before tapering off to every other night for a month or so. I got it bad for CotBP.

Who is your favorite character? Captain Jack Sparrow

Who is your second favorite character? Will Turner

What do you like most about watching/reading/writing "Pirate" stories? The heroicness of it all.

How long have you been reading/writing fanfiction? Since 1998

If you are a writer, what sorts of things have you written so far? In PotC I've only written one story and a handful of drabbles.

If you have stories online, where are they archived? Fanfiction.net, under the name Mojave Dragonfly. Also my own website at http://www.mojavedragonfly.org.

What was your first fandom, or is this your first fandom? My first fandom was Highlander: The Series. I was monofannish in HL until Captain Jack Sparrow dislodged me.

What other fandoms are you active in? Active? Not much right now. I'm becoming more active in Supernatural and I'm just tapering off of Blood Ties.

What name would you like to go by? Trinity Day (though if you use Trinity, I'm pretty sure I'll know who you're referring to)

How many times have you seen "Pirates of the Caribbean?" Much like some parts of the trilogy, I think this is a bit of an anachronistic question. I don't keep count past three, the most I've ever seen a single movie in a theatre, if that tells you anything.

Who is your favorite character? Captain Jack Sparrow

Who is your second favorite character? It used to be Will Turner, but now I think it has to be Captain Barbossa.

What do you like most about watching/reading/writing "Pirate" stories? The characters.

How long have you been reading/writing fanfiction? For well over a decade now.

If you are a writer, what sorts of things have you written so far? I write mostly drabbles (and read mostly drabbles... and happen to be the Drabble Mate here at Black Pearl Sails, with a new challenge out every Wednesday) when it comes to PotC. I ship Will/Elizabeth and Jack/Pearl, but have been known to write other things from time to time.

If you have stories online, where are they archived? A list of all my Pirates stories

What was your first fandom, or is this your first fandom? Buffy the Vampire Slayer. At least, that was the first fandom I started writing in. I first started reading Sailor Moon.

What other fandoms are you active in? I'm only involved in Harry Potter reliably, but dance in and out of other fandoms at random.

A/N: I love all the prompts for the challenges at Live Journal's hseas_challenge comm, and thought I'd try writing drabbles for each of the 20 for Challenge #4 (Backstory). Many thanks to Hereswith for looking over the first two for me. Three and four are unbetaed, though hopefully OK. Crossposted to LJ, too.

What name would you like to go by? I'm Triskellion pretty much everywhere. I also respond to Ree

How many times have you seen "Pirates of the Caribbean?" Umm... good question. Lots?

Who is your favorite character? Jack - I mean, Captain Jack Sparrow

Who is your second favorite character? Joshamee Gibbs, though I'm also fond of Will and Elizabeth

What do you like most about watching/reading/writing "Pirate" stories? I like the blend of reality and the supernatural. A lot of the best PotC stories are painfully realistic as to what it meant to live in that era, and it amazes me the attention to detail the authors attain.

How long have you been reading/writing fanfiction? Umm, ten years or so I guess, though I remember fanfic type daydreams when I was little.

If you are a writer, what sorts of things have you written so far? I mostly write drabbles for PotC. I've also written a few longer things for other fandoms.

If you have stories online, where are they archived? The complete collection is on LJ, and has been copied to dreamwidth. Tags on my account are extensive.

What was your first fandom, or is this your first fandom? I think my first was either Valdemar or Zorro, but PotC was the first I really started writing for.

What other fandoms are you active in? NCIS is my biggest these days, but I've also written Harry Potter, Stargate SG1, Van Helsing, Torchwood, Firefly, Labyrinth, and Tin Man as well as a few original stories.

Optional: Give a short biography of yourself, (Age, location, hobbies, work, etc.) I'm officially and engineer, though I'm looking for another job right now. I live in SoCal with a husband who's fairly supportive of my writing obsession. I read, write, watch TV, and hike.
